Set design for NXT Museum
IJarchitecture has designed the set and scenography of one of the spaces for the NXT Museum's current exhibition UFO – Unidentified Fluid Other.
The space evokes an intimate feel of a fitting room. The catwalk carpet leads the visitors alongside the futuristic mirrors of digital fashion house The Fabricant. The virtual garments, masks, face filters, and headdresses aim to stimulate a fashion renaissance - a shift to democratized digital trends and new, decentralized economies. The interaction between the visitors and their virtual reflections becomes an opportunity for exploration their own identity beneath the virtual layer.
The ritual of masking takes place around a spectacular sculpture by Audrey Large that functions as a gathering monument of totem challenging perception of physical vs digital.
